Pierre Barthes - General Manager, Mandarin Oriental, Beijing
Upon graduating from France’s Hotel Management School of Nice, Pierre left for the United States, where he worked extensively in restaurants prior to his decision to pursue a career in the hotel industry. His career led him to many exotic destinations around the globe including Hawaii, Rancho Mirage and Kuala Lumpur.
With more than 24 years experience in the hospitality industry, Pierre began his career as Assistant Restaurant Manager at The Westin Galleria in Dallas, Texas. Just prior to joining Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in August 1998, Pierre served as Resident Manager of The Park Lane, Jakarta and prior to that as Food & Beverage Director at the Regent Kuala Lumpur - a Four Seasons property.
Since joining our Group in 1998, Pierre has been the Food & Beverage Director at the Kahala, the Rooms Director at the San Francisco property and later the Resident Manager at both Mandarin Oriental San Francisco and New York. Pierre supported the successful pre and post opening efforts at Mandarin Oriental, New York – his 7th hotel opening – which was a brand defining moment for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in its international portfolio.
Pierre was then appointed as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Macau and did an excellent job in taking the hotel to new heights and successfully managed a number of key projects at this hotel. More recently, Pierre was appointed as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Beijing, an exciting new project scheduled to open this year.
